For his project, Justin looked at the process for onboarding volunteers with Animal Services. As he Defined, Measured, and used a Fishbone Diagram to Analyze the situation, he noticed that the differences in types of volunteering (one time vs. long-term) caused confusion and delays in onboarding those volunteers…resulting in a loss of potential volunteer hours and placing a heavier burden on the kennel techs to do work that could be done by volunteers. What a great place to start looking for ways to make this process more efficient and user-friendly!
