Baytown Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire near the 2400 block of Causeway Road, off of Evergreen Road, around 7:40am. That’s where a tank farm fire was located at Trek Resources, Inc.

Due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area, mutual aid was provided by water tankers from Cove, Beach City, and Crosby Volunteer Fire Departments to support firefighting operations. Foam trucks were also requested from Harris County Hazmat and ExxonMobil to assist with suppression efforts.

Crews focused on containing the fire and cooling nearby tanks to prevent further ignition. The Baytown Fire Department’s HazMat team conducted continuous air monitoring and issued a shelter-in-place order for nearby neighborhoods as a precaution.

The fire has been suppressed and the shelter-in-place order was lifted after air quality readings showed no hazardous levels. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation by the Baytown Fire Marshal’s Office.
