The City of Baytown receives another major award recognizing the Finance Department’s efforts in producing a strong, accurate budget.
The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the City with its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the gold standard for budgeting by local governments across the United States and Canada. The award reflects the City’s commitment to meeting the highest standards in governmental budgeting. The Finance Department had to meet four difficult categories, including a financial plan and operations guide, with 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.
Victor Brownlees, Baytown’s Finance Director, said, “I am pleased the City has been recognized once again for the high standard of its financial planning. We take our jobs very seriously in carefully managing the funds entrusted to us by our citizens, taxpayers, and customers.”
The City has received this award several times in recent years. More than 1,700 municipalities participate in the Budget Awards Program.
