[ARCHIVED] Fred Aguilar and his service

Community Achievement

The City of Baytown is proud to recognize Fred Aguilar for his decades of service in the community. A Community Achievement Award has been given to Mr. Aguilar to honor his passion for others and making Baytown a better place to live.

Fred moved to Baytown back in 1979 and while he wasn’t born here, he’s made the community his home for life. Mayor Brandon Capetillo said, “Fred has been an integral part of the community. It’s all about improving our community for him and providing opportunities for our youth and others who want to show a sense of civic pride.”

Aguilar currently serves as the President of the Baytown Civic Association, a position he has held since the association’s inception in 1987. He’s also President of the Fred Aguilar Promise Center where he continues to show his unwavering commitment to the center, his board and our community. When he’s not serving in those capacities or on several other committees, he’s in the community helping with neighborhood cleanups and anti-graffiti programs.

Mayor Capetillo and the rest of City Council joined together to honor Mr. Aguilar at the recent city council meeting. Capetillo said, “Thank you for your many years of service in the community and the impressions you have made in this area near City Hall and throughout the city that will be everlasting.”

It was a nice surprise for Fred. He made mention of how important the Baytown Civic Association has been to him and so many others before saying that everyone should get involved in their community. He said, “It’s just something that if anyone wants to do it, they can do it.”
