Ontario Home Key Ceremony_sq

Ontario Home Key CeremonyA Baytown resident receives the keys to her revitalized home, thanks to help from the city’s Planning and Development Services Department. Mayor Brandon Capetillo and other city leaders were on hand to deliver the keys over to Doris Thomas. This project took almost five months for Villarreal YCIA Builders to complete.

Doris and her family were surprised by the results, complimenting the work done by city crews and construction teams.

The house, located in the 1900 block of Ontario Street, is part of the Neighborhood Improvement Program, created to keep housing updated and up to code. The funding for this project was made available through the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant Program.

Another house is currently being worked on. Homeowners should receive the keys to their renovated home next week. While staff is not currently accepting applications for this program, the city’s Planning and Development Services Department is wanting to hear from more residents in the Pelly neighborhood regarding other available programs.
