[ARCHIVED] A Statement from Mayor Brandon Capetillo

Official Statement

Statement from Mayor Brandon Capetillo:

I know that the recent increase in violent crimes in Baytown has been on your mind. I would like to reassure everyone that the safety of our residents and visitors is, and will always be, our top priority. I have full confidence in Police Chief John Stringer and the entire Baytown Police Department, and I have been assured that extra resources have been assigned to bring the criminals to justice and into the hands of the Harris County District Attorney. Some of those resources you may see, and some you may not.

Let me be clear. The recent violence that has occurred in and around Baytown were not random acts, and those involved knew each other.

Certainly we should all be reminded to be vigilant and aware of our surroundings. As always, if you feel unsafe or you witness a crime, call 9-1-1 and report it immediately.
