[ARCHIVED] Project Vector Announced

Project Vector Graph

Excitement is building as city leaders and developers focus on the future, making plans to change the landscape off of I-10, between Garth Road and San Jacinto Boulevard. Residents have been craving new amenities and the demand is only increasing. Projects like the Hyatt Hotel and Convention Center and T-36 at Baytown are only the beginning of what’s to come. City leaders have been visiting cities and unique venues across the state, looking for ways to compliment the area around the soon-to-be San Jacinto Marketplace. Those ideas have turned into serious conversations and cutting-edge changes.

Project Vector is the name for the project that includes new entertainment, retail and hospitality options for Baytown. These new plans will also change the scope of the Fidelis development when it comes to the previously mentioned Marketplace. Plans are moving forward with the retail portion of the project along Garth Road, but the overall development is evolving and expanding. City leaders and developers, including those with Fidelis, envision the use of additional land along San Jacinto Boulevard as part of these projects.

ExxonMobil recently signed a Chapter 212 agreement with the City, giving $75 million in upfront tax payments. The money was earmarked for public-enhancing amenities that would be part of the development. An arena is included with these discussions that would expand entertainment options even more.

The exact footprint of Project Vector remains unknown, but look for major announcements in the coming weeks as our future-focused city leaders continue to bring more amenities to Baytown.
