[ARCHIVED] City Council Approves City Manager Contract

Baytown City Manager

The City of Baytown officially has its next City Manager. At the January 12th City Council meeting, Mayor Brandon Capetillo and the rest of City Council approved a three-year contract for Jason Reynolds.

Jason, who was serving as Assistant City Manager, was chosen out of 60 nationwide applicants who were evaluated based on the City’s needs as well as experience relevant to the position.

Jason said, “I’m humbled by the citizens of Baytown and City Council to give me the opportunity to be able to serve them. I look forward to hearing more from the rest of Baytown and continuing to take this great city into a bright future.”

Prior to working in Baytown, Jason was an Interim Assistant City Manager in Mont Belvieu and City Manager with Nassau Bay. He also worked with the City of Arlington, Texas for three years and served with Special Forces in the U.S. Army for 13 years.

During the same council meeting, Carol Flynt and Brant Gary were both named Interim Assistant City Managers. Carol had been serving as Director of Human Resources and has been working for the City for 30 years. Brant, who was working in Public Works and Engineering, has previous city management experience in Bellaire and other communities.

Jason said, “We have a great team and continue to build upon it. Carol has 30 years of experience in helping push this organization forward and with Brant’s experience, we can continue the momentum our council and great team of directors have created.”
