[ARCHIVED] New Event Created As Farmers Market Season Ends

BPR Outdoor Markets

We are nearing the end of the year and that means we’re reaching the end of the Baytown Farmers Market season. The Baytown Parks and Recreation Department is announcing its final event of the season on November 19th, from 8am-1pm, at Town Square located at 213 W. Texas Avenue.  You will be able to join the Bike to the Market group at 9am for a ride around historic Baytown. You will also have the chance to stretch out for Yoga at the Market at 10am.

EVENT Baytown Farmers Market (AS)Kyle Frye, Baytown Parks and Recreation Superintendent, said, “The Baytown Farmers Market is a wonderful opportunity for local vendors and citizens to buy and sell goods at Town Square.”

While we are nearing the end of the Farmers Market season, there are some exciting changes coming for 2023. The City received feedback from a survey of vendors and community members on how to improve the market.

“With the winter season almost here and the renovations at Town Square, we felt it was a good time to get the public’s input on how to make the market better. So, in March, the revamped Farmers Market will start back up in the newly renovated Town Square,” Frye said.

There will be a new and unique opportunity to shop for those unique gifts for Christmas. Join your community for the first ever “Last Stop Christmas Shop” holiday market on December 17 from 10am-2pm at Bicentennial Park on 1001 Market Street. There will be holiday-themed inflatables for the kids, food trucks, live holiday music from the Skyline Band, and more than 35 vendors to help you with your holiday shopping needs.

Last Stop Christmas Shop (AS)Robert Taleno, with the Houston Skyline Band, said, “As most of us are from the Baytown area, we are extra excited to be playing Christmas music for the first annual Last Stop Christmas Shop! Can’t wait to get everyone in the Christmas spirit while they eat, shop, and enjoy all of the other great activities that will be available!”

A special highlight for younger children will be a Parks and Recreation sponsored booth where they can shop for family members with gift options ranging from $5 to $25. They will also have the option to have their gifts wrapped on-site.

Robyn Howell, Special Event & Program Coordinator, said, “We are so happy to bring in local vendors and give shoppers one last opportunity to purchase something unique. The kid’s booth is a unique idea to add to this family-friendly event that we hope will become an annual event.”

While we hear the Grinch will make an appearance, we have been told he will be on his best behavior. Santa will also be at there to protect his naughty or nice list.

The events will be held rain or shine. For more information, you can contact 281-420-6598 or visit www.baytown.org/events.
