Please excuse our mess as some much-needed improvements are coming to Town Square. This enhancement project is to replace the overall look of Baytown’s Town Square to increase programming and usage, while reducing the costs of operation and maintenance.
What can you expect? The current areas that have grass will be replaced by all-weather turf. This will prevent the muddy areas created after it rains and will eliminate concerns over ruining the grass due to some of the events hosted at Town Square. The new design will also include new “urban toys” that will keep kids busy. Some of the current slabs will be replaced with new concrete as well.
Clifford Hatch, Baytown Parks and Recreation Director, said, “We are thankful for the support of Baytown’s Municipal Development District to provide an incredible upgrade to Town Square. We hope these upgrades lead to more events, activities, and opportunities for residents and guests to venture outside and continue to build a sense of community.”
The $600,000 project is expected to take 4 to 6 months to complete. Fitness classes that have been hosted at Town Square have been temporarily moved to the Baytown Community Center. Check the City of Baytown website and social media accounts for updates on this project.
