[ARCHIVED] Joel Willie, 25 Years of Service

Joel Willie began his career as a Traffic Control Worker with the City of Baytown Public Works & Engineering Traffic division on January 14, 1999. In 2001, Mr. Willie was promoted to a Senior Traffic Control worker. In 2004, Mr. Willie was promoted again to a Traffic Signal Technician. During Mr. Willie’s 25-year tenure as City employee he has served this organization and community in the traffic division. Mr. Willie’s journey has led him to his current role in the City as a lead Traffic Signal Technician. 

Mr. Willie has continually advanced his knowledge and skills throughout his tenure. He has demonstrated this by earning and holding multiple licenses from the Texas Engineering Extension Service and International Municipal Signal Association. 

Throughout his time with the City, Mr. Willie has enjoyed the honor of being able to work on various traffic related enhancements across the City. These projects have included: the optimization of the Garth Road corridor, the City-Wide Signal Modernization Project which included upgrades to street, signal, and highway lights across the City, and further Mr. Willie has been instrumental in replacing outdated intersection cabinets across the City. In addition to these major projects, Mr. Willie has been mentor and role model to his co-workers in the traffic division.
