Requested Action
The applicant is requesting a Special Use Permit (SUP) to allow for the construction and operation of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and a Zoning Map Amendment (ZMA) from Suburban Residential (SR) to General Commercial (GC) Zoning District. The applicant is requesting to rezone the approximately 9-acre subject site from its current SR zoning to the GC zoning.

Background
The proposed project site consists of four parcels, all of which contain single-family homes that were built at least 55 years ago. The approval of the Zoning Map Amendment (ZMA) will be required for the BESS to be constructed at the project site. The approval of the Special Use Permit (SUP) will permit the proposed BESS facility and will ensure compliance with all city code of ordinances and any applicable state and federal regulations.
