Notice is hereby given that the City of Baytown (the "City") has submitted a Notice of Temporary Suspension of Requirements of the Texas Public Information Act pursuant to Section 552.2325(b) of the Government Code.
The City is currently significantly impacted by a catastrophe that causes the City's inability to comply with the requirements of the Act. Such incapacity is due to the imminent threat of and recovery from Tropical Storm/Hurricane Beryl resulting in (i) the Acting Governor of the State of Texas on July 6, 2024, to issue a proclamation of declaring a state of emergency for Chambers and Harris Counties and (ii) the Mayor Brandon Capetillo of the City of Baytown on July 7, 2024, to issue a Local State of Disaster.
On Monday, July 8, 2024 and Tuesday, July 9, 2024 physical offices of the City of Baytown were closed and regular operations of the City were suspended. Essential personnel (i) were working emergency operations only, (ii) Non Essential personnel was neither available nor required to work remotely, and (iii) did not have access, electronically or physically, to documents that would allow this governmental body to comply with deadlines set forth by the Texas Public Information Act.
