Serving Baytown’s Fathers: A National Fatherhood Initiative
The City of Baytown and the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI), the nation’s leading fatherhood organization, have partnered to launch an innovative community initiative to help fathers, while emphasizing reducing drug and opioid misuse.
Today, nearly 1 in 4 American children do not live with a biological, step, or adoptive father at home. Having a father in the home and involved is associated with better outcomes on nearly every measure of child well-being, including being less likely to abuse drugs or alcohol.
Many fathers in our city face challenges that prevent them from being actively engaged in their children’s lives, including drug or alcohol use. Through this collaboration, the City of Baytown seeks to achieve positive change at home by creating safe and healthy environments for children, fathers, and families.
