Cleanup Event Scheduled for West Baytown
The City of Baytown Health Department will host the annual West Baytown Fall Clean-Up event on Saturday, October 20, 2012, from 9 AM to 2 PM. The event is part of the department's Litter Abatement and Keep Baytown Beautiful programs.
The event will be centered around Bergeron Park in West Baytown (at Louisiana, Kentucky and Georgia Streets). Residents will be able to drop off old furniture, rubbish, building materials, carpet, old appliances, scrap metal and residential tires. Minor remodeling debris will be accepted but should be sealed in heavy duty trash bags prior to being dropped off. Local volunteers will be available to assist unloading items from vehicles. There is no fee for disposing items at this event; however the event is for residential rubbish only – NO businesses or commercial contractors will be allowed.
Items that will NOT be accepted include household garbage, shingles, tree limbs, brush, electronics, anti-freeze, auto batteries, oil, paint, or any other household hazardous waste. No concrete or bricks will be accepted.
Sponsors of the event include: West Baytown Civic Association, Central Heights Civic Association, and the City’s “Partners Against Litter”: Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, Bayer Baytown Industrial Park, ExxonMobil, NRG Cedar Bayou Plant, Liberty Tire Recycling, Wal-Mart Distribution, Community Resource Credit Union, Earthman Funeral Home, Walgreens, The Baytown Sun, B-ROC Metals Recycling and Waste Management.
Keep Baytown Beautiful is a cooperative program of the Baytown Beautification Advisory Commission and the Baytown Health Department, bringing friends, families, coworkers and neighbors together to create a cleaner, brighter Baytown.
