City Spray Parks to Close for the Winter
The City’s four spray parks, located at Roseland, Bergeron, Pelly and McElroy parks will close for the winter on Sunday, November 4 at 8 p.m. All four Spray Parks are scheduled to reopen Saturday, March 9, (the day before the first day of Daylight Saving Time) at 10 a.m., and remain open through Sunday, November 3, 2013.
All four facilities are open 8 months out of the year and admission is free.
Two new spray parks opened this past March. Both McElroy Park Spray Park and Pelly Park Splash Pad have entertained countless visitors this past summer.
Roseland Spray Park, located at 100 Roseland Drive, replaced the 52-year-old Roseland Park pool. It was the first Baytown Municipal Development District funded project, and includes two picnic shelters, a vending depot, a bench arbor, public restrooms, and convenient parking. The popular spray park first opened on May 1, 2002 will end its tenth successful season. Bergeron Park Spray Park, located at 1520 Louisiana, opened in March 2011 and has provided endless entertainment for the neighborhood during the long hot summer.
The proposed Central Heights Park Splash Deck, a Community Development Block Grant project, is scheduled to open in March as a addition to the Aquatics Facilities Master Plan. Future spray parks are planned for Jenkins Park and Downtown.
