Baytown Mobility Plan
The Baytown Mobility Plan is a comprehensive and multimodal plan to capture the City's goals as expressed in the 2007 Comprehensive Plan and 2008 Vision Statement. The result is a technical document containing a set of actionable infrastructure improvement projects, funding strategies and mechanisms, and mobility policies, plans and maps to help mold our future. It provides direction regarding all aspects of mobility in Baytown including the City’s major streets, sidewalks, hike and bike trails, bus routes, and even future commuter rail. The goals of the Mobility Plan are to:
- Develop a set of improvement projects addressing transportation modes that compliment each other. This multi-modal approach includes through and intra city vehicular, mass transit, park and ride, freight, pedestrian, bicycle, and future commuter rail;
- Develop a list of recommended projects that will form the basis for the five-year Capital Improvements Program (CIP);
- Develop a funding plan for recommended improvements by identifying preliminary costs, funding sources and mechanisms;
- Propose changes to the City’s subdivision regulations, roadway classification system, and street standards that are consistent with the findings of the Mobility Plan and best management practices; and
- Update the Major Thoroughfare Plan which is a map and spacing standards for arterial, collector, and local roads.
