EPIC! Offers a Valentines Parents Night Out

Following the success of the first Parents’ Night Out in December, EPIC (Environmental Protectors Initiating Change) is hosting a Valentine Parents’ Night Out at the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education Center, 1724 Market Street, Baytown, Saturday, February 11 from 6-10 pm. Get a jump on Valentine’s Day and beat the February 14 crowds. Bring the kids to the Wetlands Center for a fun-filled evening while you relax and enjoy an adult evening with your special someone. Activities include games, crafts, live animals, photo booth, snacks and more. Admission is $20 with proceeds going toward an end of the year education/research trip for the EPIC students.

EPIC is a service learning club for high school teens with an interest in conservation. The group, sponsored by the Wetlands Education Center and the Baytown Nature Center, meets weekly to learn about and solve coastal environmental problems through hands-on projects.

High school students who wish to make a difference in the community, make new friends, and gain volunteer hours while having fun, meet Wednesday afternoons from 4-5 pm. under the supervision of Christina Butcher, Baytown Nature Center Naturalist and Wetlands Center Education Coordinator, Jina Faith. Participation in small conservation projects one Saturday each month develops team work skills and environmental responsibility that enable the students to pick, plan and implement a larger conservation project of their choice.
